With over three years of hands-on training and experience working with acute pain, heavy whiplash from motor vehicle accidents, peripheral neuropathies, postural correction, and postoperative clientele, I am more than well equipped to approach my client’s specific needs with knowledge and care. Informed by a variety of assessments, my massages often consist of (but are not limited to) direct focus work designed to free nerve pathways, loosen aggravating muscles, and relieve pain & biomechanical dysfunction. That being said, I also enjoy providing more general relaxation based massages when a client is seeking one. I use many tools in my work, including hot towels, cupping, and grastoning. As a massage therapist, I am always looking to expand my tool set and refine my approach to bodywork. During treatment I encourage my clients to ask questions about their anatomy, discomfort, and how what I’m doing can help them. It is my aim to empower my clients by giving them tools, knowledge, and anatomical insight they can use to continue to address their discomfort and demystify their bodies even after they’ve gotten off the massage table. It is a pleasure to be brought on to the Thrive Massage team and to finally work alongside my lovely wife. I very much look forward to working with you soon!

Initial Training

Justin graduated from the Ashland Institute of Massage in 2020. The 650 hour program featured advanced training in anatomy, kinesiology, Swedish Massage, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, MyoFascial Release, basic prenatal massage, and clinical assessment & treatment.

After graduation, Justin was hired by his pathology teacher and worked for several years in a Medical Massage clinic. There, he received 100+ hours of one-on-one training guided by highly skilled professionals of manual therapy and pathology to learn to effectively assess and treat acute pain and many other conditions. It was through this business that he would later go on to help train other massage graduates in Medical Massage.

I approach each of my clients with curiosity, consideration and care. With a rhythm and flow for a nurturing yet therapeutic experience, I show up for my client’s desires while responding to what presents itself in the moment. Migrating toward a therapeutic approach, my work can be very site-specific while providing a body-integration between focus areas. I often implement myofascial release, deep-tissue work, Neuromuscular Therapy, gua sha cupping and scraping, the massage gun, Swedish massage techniques, and client participation through movement and stretching.

I want to help educate my clients with my knowledge of anatomy and demystify their pain. Throughout the session I encourage my clients to explore their areas of discomfort with curiosity: I often ask my client to refine the location and describe the kind of pain, and help them to discover more options for movement within the discomfort, thus refining their body awareness. My goal is to help my client improve daily functionality by becoming more in-tune with their body, empowered, and at-ease.

Using my hands to create things and watching them change and grow is my favorite thing to do! When I am not giving massage, I am working on my latest art project or commission. You will also likely find me in the kitchen baking and cooking, tending my garden and houseplants, playing with my cat, hanging out with my family, spending time in nature, or geeking out with my husband.
